Welcome To Uganda
In the heart of the African continent lies the “Pearl of Africa” Uganda. Small by African standards, Uganda is about the size of Great Britain. Completely landlocked, it is a fascinating country with a variety of diverse environments and animals. The most famous of these is the rare and endangered Mountain Gorilla. A Gorilla Trekking Safari in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the main attraction in Uganda.
If you are short on time then try our 4 Day Uganda Safari which showcases these amazing creatures. If you have time and would like to explore this remarkable area, have a look at our Classic Uganda and Rwanda Itinerary. Although a huge highlight, Uganda is not just about Gorillas. It has some of the most untouched Reserves and Parks in Africa. Spend time in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, or at Murchison Falls National Park. Birdlife is stunning. Chimpanzee trekking is another of the primate highlights.
There are three mountain ranges the Rwenzoris (Mountains of the Moon), Mt Elgon, and the Virunga Volcanoes. All provide incredible hiking opportunities for those with an adventurous spirit. Lake Victoria is the largest tropical lake in the world. Game viewing, white water rafting on the Nile, and the local culture add to the diversity of Uganda.
Uganda is relatively new on the African tourist agenda. We have handpicked some superb accommodation options. Luxury accommodation like Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is the only lodge inside the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park. Lose yourself in the forest from your bathtub! The Bwindi Safari Lodge is an eco-lodge overlooking the forest.
Uganda is 1,000m above sea level, so although an equatorial climate, the climate is not uniform due to the altitude. From the mountains to the forests to the lakes, the climate can vary so consult an expert or have a look at our tips and information page.
