This 10 Days Safari and Culture Tour takes you into the rhythm of Tanzania by ushering you into the tranquil and remote northern Usambara mountain range. Take time to visit with local community members learning of a unique model for tourism, which has enabled local development and growth. This trip culminates on the aquamarine shores of the Indian Ocean. Touching down on the island of Zanzibar, a final few days will be spent quietly relaxing on soft white beaches in the shade of a palm tree.

10 Days Safari and Culture Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). You will be met by a Dahlia Tours & Safaris representative and transferred to Arusha for dinner and your overnight resting, ready to start the safari on the next day. The company’s doctor will have a small talk with you about the safari and leave you to rest so you can explore Tanzania the next day. Dinner and overnight at accommodation will be at Ahadi Lodge.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is the first national park on this safari. After an early start, you will drive to and enter this park famous for its many elephants and Baobab trees. You will go game driving until dark. Later on, you will drive back to Roika Tented Lodge for your dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Tarangire to lake Manyara National Park

You will picked up from Roika Lodge and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. This national park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.

The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. Dinner and overnight will be at Migunga Tented Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater, considered as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000-foot high walls, the Ngorongoro Crater has the highest wild animal density worldwide.

Among the species are lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds, and other species. You might expect to see the Big Five in one day. After the crater tour, you will drive to Rhino Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro crater to Serengeti national park

After breakfast, you will start on your way to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gauge. Oldupai Gorge – originally misnamed Olduvai – is the most famous archaeological location in East Africa, and has become an essential visit for travelers to Ngorongoro or Serengeti.

Then after, you will head to Naabi gate where the driver will pay your park fees and stop for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) after lunch proceed in Serengeti park game drive on route. Overnight accommodation will be at Serengeti Savannah Camp.

Day 6: Full day at Serengeti national park

Today, you will have a full day game drive at Serengeti. Your driver / guide will take you out far away, looking for Serengeti’s great migration. You can also expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, many birds, and other species. You will have lunch there and come back to the lodge in sunset time. Dinner and overnight at accommodation will be at Seronera Sopa Lodge.

Today, you will also have the option of going on a balloon safari. You will fly over Serengeti and get the opportunity to view it from the air and see all animals from their hidden places where vehicles could not reach.

Day 7: fly Serengeti to Zanzibar islands

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met by a Dahlia Africa Zanzibar representative and be transferred to Dhow Palace Hotel. Arrival is in the late evening. You can spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 8: Zanzibar stone town

Your program starts with a morning walk to the historical Stone Town tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace), and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar.

You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals, and countless antique mosques, among others.

In the evening, you will go for a Dhow sunset cruise tour and later come back to the hotel for your dinner and overnight at Dhow Palace Hotel.

Day 9: Zanzibar northeast coast

After breakfast at the Dhow Palace Hotel, you will depart for a spice plantation tour and lunch there afterwards. You will then be transferred to Zanzibar northeast coast in Matemwe Beach Village. The afternoon will be spent at leisure. Dinner and overnight will be at Matemwe Beach Village.

Day 10: departure

Depending on your flight back to home country, you will be transferred to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your flight to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) where you will board your international flight for departure.
